educational

Nimbin is renowned for its creativity and sustainability. It is a centre for learning for all ages and for many practical, philosophical and religious pursuits. You can learn to farm sustainably at a permaculture centre or broaden your horizons at one of the myriad festivals, expos, workshops, and gatherings held throughout the region.

Nimbin’s sustainable living hub, 7 Sibley Street, hosts skills sharing workshops every week, starting at 10.30 am. The workshops are open to locals and visitors wanting to experience ‘grassroots’ Nimbin knowledge with topics spanning shoemaking, paper making, humane home butchery, basket weaving, weed block making and many more! Participate in one of their regular farm tours to get a local insight on sustainable faming and land regeneration practices. For those just passing through, why not try your hand at a 10-minute hemp string making, stick spinning or loom weaving workshop. For Bookings, information, and updates, click here.

Djanbung Gardens is a purpose-designed permaculture education centre and living learn-scape. The gardens demonstrate diverse ways permaculture can be applied to practical living, working and production systems. Djanbung Gardens offers short courses and workshops as well as longer permaculture design courses suitable for beginners through to advanced.

While you’re here, why not try something new like belly dance classes, life drawing, yoga or Qigong? The Nimbin Community Centre hosts a variety of regular community classes, a timetable can be found here.
