The School of Arts, or Town Hall as it is known, was officially opened on 16 September 1904. While it was largely built to give the community a base for religious services until the first churches were built, the Hall quickly developed as a cultural centre with an orchestra, dramatic productions and many balls and dances.

In recent years the School of Arts has developed an extensive cultural program of major events, including the hugely popular Blue Moon Cabarets. For over 20 years, the Cabarets have presented a wonderfully diverse array of performance arts: comedy, poetry, music, dance ensembles, acrobatics, and circus. The licensed events feature an evening of fine food, wines and stunning entertainment that have developed into sell-out shows. The Cabarets are held three times each year and tickets and table reservations are available through Perceptio book shop (Ph: 0266 891 766).

The School of Arts also hosts the Autumn Arts and the Spring Arts Exhibitions, both having become established major attractions during the busy school holiday periods.

The School of Arts is also the venue for a diverse series of feature programs: the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup, the Concert of Dances, the Nimbin Fashion Show and the many and zany events of the annual Mardi Grass.
