There are, quite possibly, more actors, artisans, buskers, dancers, divas, film-makers, musicians, painters, potters and performers, per capita, than anywhere else in the country. You’ll find their work on display at weekend markets, galleries, cafes, pubs and many venues throughout the region.

The Northern Rivers is the home of the weekend market. Each weekend, towns and villages throughout the region host craft and farmers markets brimming with everything from handmade furniture and vintage apparel to the freshest organic veggies. Nimbin's vibrant live music scene has spawned some legendary artists including our very own Brodie Button from the Button Collective. You'll find loads of talented artists across a broad spectrum of styles and genres that can be heard in bars, clubs and pubs throughout the region (more)

local performance

Nimbin School of Arts has been producing a series of hugely popular Blue Moon Cabarets for over 20 years. The Cabarets present a wonderfully diverse array of the performance arts: comedy, poetry, music, dance ensembles, acrobatics. You'll find weekly open mic comps, poets at the Bowling Club and the fabulous annual Nimbin Poertry World Club at the Town Hall in September (more)

The annual Spring Arts Exhibition has been a feature presentation on Nimbin's cultural calendar for over 20 years. The exhibition presents an incredible variety of works by Nimbin's fine artists, craft workers, designers. Nimbin is famous for its extraordinary festivals, fairs and shows with the Nimbin Aquarius festival one of the most famous of all time. The protest rally and parade for Mardigrass is held on the first weekend in May and there's the fabulous Forgotten Arts Fair in August.
