I was born in 1955 at Belmont NSW, and lived in the Lake Macquarie/Newcastle area all my life until we moved to the Northern Rivers in 2007, when I began driving the Nimbin Shuttle.

Driving the Shuttle is enjoyable and I never tire of the drive from Byron Bay to Nimbin. The service started back in the mid-eighties and was owned by Nimbin local Bob McKay from 2002-2010. Before that, Bob ran the Nimbin Explorer.

Current owner, Mick Gamble, operates the Nimbin Shuttle service from Byron Bay to Nimbin every day of the year (except Christmas and New Years Day). He also runs Grasshoppers Tours which offers lunch and a guided tour through National Parks and recreational areas.

I’ve always enjoyed driving and used to drive trucks up through the Hunter Valley, over the ranges at Murrurundi and then out as far as Moree across to Glen Innes and down to Armidale, Tamworth and back to Newcastle, also up the north coast as far as Grafton. I worked for a while for my father in the building industry, however we wanted a change and eventually moved to Byron Bay.

I don’t know how many people I have brought out to Nimbin on the shuttle but it would be tens of thousands for sure. To say that the passengers on the shuttle are a “diverse lot” would have to be the understatement of all time, however, as they come from literally all over the world, their diversity, their distinctiveness is what Nimbin thrives on.

I am a big football fan (soccer for the uninitiated) and used to play and coach in Newcastle.

I live with my wife in sunny Byron Bay. We have two daughters and two grandchildren.
I love my wife, my children and grandchildren, my Mum and Bob Dylan.
Dylan is special to me because he is unique, a real one-off. He is an enigma.
Nimbin is special to me for the same reasons.
