Here are some heartwarming musical moments that brought together our community, as part of the Opening our Heart program in March. These events held in Lismore to reflect, heal and share joy together one year on from the 2022 disaster.
Opera in the Gardens featured four of Australia's premier opera and theatre voices including Paul Tabone, Mirusia, Jayde Westaby and Joshua Robson. Their magical performance delighted over 2,000 locals and visitors at the Lismore Turf Club on on 19 March 2023
From the Heart was a very special free concert to celebrate our community spirit. At Lismore Turf Club on 5 March 2023, the event featured Aria-award winning country music star Casey Barnes and indy country artist Amy Sheppard, along with an outstanding line-up of Australian musical acts including Brian Cadd and The Little Steely Bros, Darlinghurst, and The Buckleys.

What is the the Lismore Laneways Listening Booth?
Appearing like a funky vintage phone booth, the Listening Booth is a bespoke 'activation pod' where you can hear local stories and sounds.
Launched in June 2023, the Listening Booth will bring together diverse voices of our city and rhythms of our community. As this project develops, you will discover a shifting symphony of Lismore life for your listening delight: local musicians playing heartfelt tunes, our stories and histories, home-grown ideas and recipes to savour, artists talking about their newest creations, and more.
Simply press the buttons in the Listening Booth to hear short excerpts of current audio content, and scan the QR code to listen and experience more featured on this page.
The Listening Booth is one of two activation pods on Carrington Street - the other one is a community book exchange, delivered with Lismore Library.

What is the background for this Listening Booth and for Lismore Laneways activation?
The Listening Booth is an element of the 2021 Lismore Laneways Project, which was designed to help reinvigorate our inner-city laneways precinct and attract more visitors. This Lismore City Council project was funded through a $510,000 grant, as part of a $1.5 million grant from the NSW Government for the ongoing revitalisation of the Lismore CBD.
